The medal is also avilable posthumously to next of kin of those that paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Eligibility: Available to all uniformed personnel of the First and Second World Wars and all former or presently serving uniformed servicemen and woman, plus those in the uniformed service sector, such as police and fire services, who sustained wounds or injury in the line of duty, or their next of kin.

The Arctic Medal is available exclusively to all allied veterans of the Arctic Campaign in WW II or their next of kin. This includes Royal Navy Personnel who served on the convoys. Those whose served as D.E.M.S. gun crews on merchant ships. Many merchant seamen; the army personnel who were stationed on the remote land bases and who gave an essential back-up and the airmen whose long flying hours afforded the vital air protection required for the safety and success of many convoys.

They would have landed in Normandy, served in the Royal Navy or Merchant navy, were seaborne in the channel or overflew Normandy with the RAAF, or served with an allied force during that time, which included members of R.C.A.F and the U.S Airforce.
